AMCS Sustainable Seafood GoodFish Guide celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
Flashback to 20 years ago when Facebook and Gmail were launched, “Friends” aired its final episode, the summer Olympics were in Greece, and the AMCS Sustainable Seafood Guide was born!
The Guide was launched in 2004 as an easy to use resource for supporters who wanted to eat seafood that was sustainable and had a low impact on the environment.
Then and now:
- Starting with just over 30 seafood options the guide now has more than 240.
- The first app was developed in 2011 – a revamped version was re-launched in 2023.
- The program expanded with the launch of GoodFish work with restaurant chefs in 2019, now working with more than 100 chefs and business owners across the country.
The program continues to expand with a retail program launching this year partnering with mid-tier retailers around the country, making it easier for Australians to access environmentally sustainable seafood to cook at home.
