Australia’s policies for seafood imports do not stop us buying seafood from illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
We have a huge opportunity to start closing the doors to dodgy seafood. The government has released their draft proposal and it’s promising. Starting by increasing reporting requirements, building a traceability pilot program, and working with other nation states to block out the products of IUU fishing.
We need public support to make sure the proposal doesn’t end up being weakened or rejected.
